L'Occitane Precious Cream

DSC_0865-1-1 DSC_0867-1-1 DSC_0870-11 I received this little L'Occitane gem in a sample size a while ago and immediately loved it, it was the rich, hydrating, super skin-softening night cream I had been searching for, forcing me to ask myself the question.. where has this stuff been all my life? I have to admit, other than enjoying free samples of their hand creams (which are great by the way), I was not very familiar with L'Occitane, but this moisturiser changed that, making me want to learn more about the brand, and so I did...and that's when the smile got wiped off my face faster than you can say beauty junkie. £40.00...that's right, you heard me, this cream costs £40.00! While there may be people out there willing to spend that much of their hard earned buck on a face cream, I 'm not one of them. For as long as I can, I will try and make my sample last, scraping every last bit out of that illusive blue pot that will never again grace my dressing table, ok, I'm being dramatic, but as far as finding my perfect night cream goes, the search continues...

Sally Hansen Insta-dri

DSC_0847-1-1 One of my pet peeves is meeting someone for the first time with chipped nails, although there's little chance they're staring at your fingertips, you still feel like you've made an 'i'm still fifteen' impression; 'i've got grubby nails and a ditzy personality to boot'. In my opinion, if you haven't got the time, better no nail varnish at all. However, right now as I write this, I am looking down at horribly chipped nails, unattractively tapping away at my keyboard. Unfortunately, nail varnishes don't seem to last very long on my nails, I don't know what it is, I even wear rubber gloves to do the washing up ( and not just because it looks super cool), so where am I going wrong?
I was browsing the aisles of Superdrug the other day, as you do, and saw this little gem in the nail section. I've heard a lot about Sally Hansen from American bloggers and youtubers, and as the products seem to have received pretty good reviews I thought I would try and use this to extend the wear of my nail varnish. I've used it twice already, and I have to say, it's quite good, using high street nail varnishes I probably get 3 to 4 days with no chipping, where it used to be more like 1 to 2 without it. The best thing about this product though has to be the drying time, it seals in your varnish and dries in record time!
I do think I might have to invest in the nail hardener by the same brand as it might be the state of my nails which causes them to chip, so that's a new one to add to the wishlist! Let me know your favourite tricks for extending the wear of your nail varnishes?

Take a peek at my clothes rail..

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket So Winter is definitely here, and that makes me fall into the same trap every year, the 'waking up in the morning, having a think about what you might wear, and settling for skinny jeans and a jumper' trap. I am desperately trying not to let this happen this time around, but when I get up at 7 am and see my faithful old jeans hanging over the chair, I can't help but think they're calling out to me, they want to be worn, and who I am to deny them that!? If I do find myself at a moment of weakness, one option is to throw on my khaki jacket with leather sleeves, it instantly makes those old jeans look chic. If I'm feeling especially fancy, and don't mind getting a little cold I might go with my green Zara jacket, for a bit of anti-winter flare (seriously what is it with blacks and greys in winter, my morning commute looks like a can of sardines going to a funeral)! Another option, and one I lean towards a lot, is my trusty leather jacket (a thing I like to call 'the buy of my life', I've had it for years, courtesy of my mum who brought it for me in Florence..thanks mum!), it just looks so Olivia Palermo with the faux fur gillet on top, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. If it looks like the sun is making an appearance I can sometimes still get away with pairing my skinnies with a slubby cable knit like this one, grabbed at a steal in one of many new look sales, very navajo chic, very cosy. The next three items are for the days when the jeans just wont do, a stripy primark shift dress that I picked up for £5.00, enough said. A sweet little peach coloured number from zara, which happens to look great with black tights and ankle boots, and finally my favourite option this autumn, the patterned trouser. Smarter and cooler than jeans, but warmer than tights, my collection is quite extensive and these red and navy ones from H&M are my pick of the moment.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the pieces I call on when jeans and a jumper doesn't seem like enough, after all, the street is our catwalk and it deserves more than our old jeans,

Barry M Glitter Polishes

DSC_0839-2-1 DSC_0844-1-1

As you can probably tell I've been pretty crazy about painting my nails lately. I go through phases where my love for perfectly painted nails is only matched by my laziness, meaning that I can't really be bothered. Recently though, when I have a little time, sat on the sofa in front of gossip girl or really bad reality T.V (cough..geordie shore..cough), I enjoy the routine of painting my nails, especially with these gorgeous glitter polishes. So if you fancy sparkly nails as we get closer to the christmas season, definitely check these out in Boots or Superdrug, they're pretty affordable and definitely leave you with that 'cant' stop staring at my hands' syndrome, which doesn't really help when you're supposed to be concentrating in lectures..!!

NOTD

DSC_0930-1 DSC_0924-2 Quick Nail Combo, painted these pretty little glittery things last night. The white is pretty much a permanent fixture these days, just makes a great base for glittery polishes like this Barry M one. It actually rings quite christmassy to me, even though I am trying to avoid even thinking that far ahead. They've already got Santa's grotto set up where I work, hold your reindeers guys, it's not even December yet! Having to start making appearances mid November I think theres a good chance Santa will give up by the end of December, we're pushing him into early retirement!

Thanks for reading guys, my amazing penguin pyjamas are from Primark if anyone was wondering, if you   want to feel cosy on these cold nights I highly recommend these!

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

DSC_0858-1 DSC_0863-1 DSC_0864-1

Ok, so I know I'm so late to the party with this one, not fashionably late, oh no, embarrassingly late, to the point that everyone's so drunk that they don't even notice your grand entrance. Everyone and their dog has tried this product, amazingly popular it's worth its hype according to every beauty blogger under the sun. To introduce this product, I'm going to set you a scene; So, I'm walking through boots, its been a long day, im not there to gaze at makeup and come out with lovely new purchases, just their to pick up the basics, or the boring stuff as its usually known (cotton pads, lady supplies, hand sanitizer, toothpaste) basically the stuff everyone hates spending money on, but has to. Imagine the worst under-eye bags you've ever seen, I had them, basically I wasn't looking or feeling my best. But then, suddenly, on the horizon I see the new Liz Earle stand, and I kid you not, free samples!! If there was anything that could turn my day around it was free samples, of the hot cloth cleanser of all things!! Of course I ran over, and dived at the samples, probably scaring the woman at the counter half to death.
Needless to say, I took it home, used it once and I was sold! I have really sensitive eyes, every night when I remove my makeup I have to rub my eyes like crazy because I can feel that they're irritated. With this, all that rubbing is a thing of the past, just massage this product into your lashes and wipe away with a muslin cloth...tah-dah...! Another plus is that it made my skin feel really soft too and was quick and easy to remove from my face with the muslin cloth. If any of you out there have not tried this, don't be like me and wait for so long without giving it a go, this little gem is definitely worth its hype. Alternatively wait for a chance at a free sample, because who doesn't love one of those.

Thanks for reading guys, sorry for the absence, I know its been ages but moving house has been the stress of my life, finally now I'm settled into the new place I can get back to blogging!!
